  • The following laws contain provisions which stipulate the need to “identify and assess environmental risks” in activities that could produce such risks:

The Environmental Responsibility Law (R.D. 9/2005) on contaminated land.

The Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control Law (IPPC).

      The Law on Waste.

ITSEMAP has been accredited by the group of companies that form the POOL Español de Riesgos Ambientales to carry out detailed Environmental Risk Inspections. Currently, we have conducted more than 150 inspections in a variety of sectors. In addition, after developing a method to perform semi-quantitative assessment of environmental risks, ITSEMAP went on to apply it in prestigious industrial companies.

  • Quantitative risk studies: individual and social.
  • Comprehensive treatment of contaminated land: studies to identify the contaminants, assessment of associated risk, control and recovery strategies.
  • Managing environmental liabilities.
  • Identification and Characterisation of Contaminated Land. Find out more

  • The R.D. 9/2005 law on contaminated land contains provisions requiring businesses involved in potentially contaminating activities to prepare a Preliminary Safety Report (PSR) and, in subsequent stages, to carry out studies to enable the characterisation of land contamination.

At the request of the Andalusian Ministry of the Environment, ITSEMAP has developed a tool which enables the preparation of Preliminary Safety Reports on land conditions at installations and facilities legally required to do so. It also provides for the subsequent characterisation of the land according to the potential risk of land contamination it represents. The tool incorporates our extensive experience in contaminated land characterisation (collection of contaminated soil samples, performance of appropriate analytical testing, and so on).
