    The required SIL is determined using a systematic approach involving accident risk assessment and evaluation of the effectiveness of relevant safeguards, in accordance with international regulations and standards (ANSI/ISA-84.01-1996, IEC 61508 y IEC 61511). This requires the application of a number of selection methodologies, such as qualitative methodologies (Risk Graphs), semi-quantitative methodologies (Calibration Graphs and Risk Matrixes) and quantitative methodologies (LOPA analysis). The results must be recorded in the System Requirement Specifications (SRS) for the system.
